WHITEFISH, MONTANA (FSC)

                                                                  FEB 12-19, 2011

Due to an inability to book airfare, Pensacola Ski Club will not be hosting a 2011 trip to Whitefish.  However, this is a Florida Ski Council (FSC) trip and other clubs throughout the state are still going on these dates.  FSC has reciprocal agreements between the clubs, so you are welcome to make this trip with another ski club.  Click here for clubs and information from the FSC website.

Whitefish Mountain Resort on Big Mountain (formerly Big Mountain Resort) is located in Northwest Montana 60 miles south of the Canadian Border and in the backyard of Glacier National Park (which just celebrated it’s 100th anniversary in the Summer of 2010).  Big Mountain is built like a cone with 360 degrees from the top of the mountain with 3,000 inbound ski-able acres (making Whitefish Mountain Resort the 10th largest resort in the U.S.), 97 marked runs, lots of tree glades and other off-piste areas to explore, plus night skiing.  If an area might be foggy, have fun in the trees, ski with an ambassador (mountain guide) or just move to another side of the mountain.

Lift lines are very short or non-existent.  The highest elevation is 6,817 feet…no altitude issues!  Twice daily are free mountain guides to help you learn the mountain.  There are groomed black diamond runs, as well as designated beginner chair lifts and ski areas.  A great value ski school + equipment+ lift ticket package (2 days for $69) makes this a great destination for never-evers.
