Telluride! The most beautiful place you’ll ever ski. Still with many reminders of the mining town it once was but now is one of the west’s most popular ski resorts. From the back bowls to the 4.6 mile Galloping Goose run, Telluride has over 1700 skiable acres, with 92 trails served by 17 lifts (2 high speed gondolas, 7 high speed quads, 2 triples, 2 doubles, 2 surface lifts and 2 magic carpets). Located in the San Juan mountain range, the elevation varies from 8750’ to 12,255’ with an average annual snowfall of 309”. The trails have a mix of 24% beginner, 38% intermediate and 38% advanced/expert. And new in 2008-2009 will be Revelation Bowl, along with the Revelation lift, taking advanced skiers to terrain previously accessible only by hiking or helicopter. Skiing may not get any better than this! We will be staying at the Mountain Lodge located in the Mountain Village, approx. 1000’ above the town of Telluride. When you’re ready to ski, you’re already at the top of the mountain and ready to go. If you want to go into town, just hop on the free gondola and ride down the mountain into town. From the gondola base, it is a short walk to most anywhere in Telluride. Of course for groceries, ski rentals and gift shops, they’re all available at Mountain Village so you really don’t have to go ‘down town’, just if you want to.
